This coming Chinese New Year 2017 (Year of the Rooster), Hunan TV International and RNCM in partnership with Educate Study and Trinity Education proudly presents the Chinese New Year Gala in Manchester.
The event will be hosted by RNCM, broadcast in China on Hunan TV International and streamed via Mango TV. The Chinese New Year Gala is a first time event in the UK to be broadcast on satellite TV and Mango TV.
The theme of this event will be around Music and Art with an overarching theme of talent.
2017年农历新年即将来临，湖南电视台国际频道(北京海洛特集团)，北方皇家音乐学院与Trinity Education Ltd(Educate Study Ltd)联合举办的鸡年迎春晚会，晚会将在北方皇家音乐学院举行，北方皇家音乐学院会派出盛大的演出队伍，有著名的室内音乐系主任Jeremy Young连手北京大提琴协会理事长，国际音乐大赛评委吕杰，以及北方皇家音乐学院荣誉打击乐艺术家导师余乐等，晚会还特意邀请了艺术中国表演孔雀舞，曼城智武学校表演醉狮和少儿功夫，精彩的表演将在1月22号晚上呈现给大家，届时湖南电视台国际频道将会录制并于新春期间在国内播出，同时会在芒果TV上播放, 英国BBC电视台也会参与录制将在北部新闻播出。
RNCM with Jeremy Young (Pianist, Head of chamber music at Royal Northern College of Music) playing a solo piece. Jeremy will then be joined by Jie Lu (Cellist, Professor of Music College of Capital Normal University & Council Member of the Cello Society of Chinese Musicians’ Association)
Following Jeremy and Jie, students at RNCM will play further musical pieces.
Traditional dancing will be performed by Art of China, and to celebrate Chinese New Year – Dragon and Lion dances.
Mango New Child Star will showcase young talent (10-18 years) from China with performances around the theme of Music and Art.
RNCM - Head of Chamber Music
London born pianist Jeremy Young has gained a reputation as one of the UK’s most respected and versatile musicians.
A founder member of the Manchester Piano Trio, Jeremy has also partnered many of the worlds most distinguished musicians including Olivier Charlier, Mark Padmore, Julian Bliss, Liwei Qin, Thomas Riebl and Karine Georgian.
Distinguished cello professor of Music College of Capital Normal University
Lu Jie, male, born on 09 January 1960, is an eminent Chinese cellist and professor, who is currently a council member of the Cello Society of Chinese Musicians’ Association, and distinguished cello professor of Music College of Capital Normal University, of the Art College in Xiamen University
Honorary Associate Artist at RNCM
Born in China, Le began his percussion studies at age 14 at the Xi'an Conservatory of Music High School with Prof. YaGuang Liu. In 2007 Le commenced his studies at the Royal Northern College of Music(RNCM) with a full scholarship, and in 2012 earned his Master of Music with Distinction and Bachelor of Music with Honours .
RNCM - Pianist
Feng Ran, born in 1991 in Guizhou, China, has been playing piano since she was four years old. At the age of 14, she was admitted into Kiev Lysenko musical college as a gifted child. At 17, she entered the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Ukraine, which is a worldwide known music academy
The Saxophone department at the RNCM is renowned across the globe as one of the leading centres for high level, open-minded and innovative saxophone study, attracting students from the length and breadth of the UK
Soprano
Alexandra is a currently studying for a Master of Music at the RNCM under the tuition of Sandra Dugdale, where she recently graduated with a First Class Bachelor of Music degree. Her course is generously funded by The Andrew Lloyd Webber Sarah Brightman Scholarship.
Soprano
Lixin Liu is a soprano who gained her Bachelor Degree from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2015, and is now a second year Masters student under the tutelage of Mary Plazas at the RNCM.
Baritone
Edward is a 22 year-old baritone, based in the North West of England, currently studying for his BMus (Hons) at The Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). In 2013, Edward was awarded ‘Staffordshire Young Singer of the Year’ and has since pursued every opportunity to further his musical education. He is currently under the tutorship of the internationally acclaimed baritone, Quentin Hayes.
Pianist & Violinist
Sophie is an eleven year old student currently studying at the Chetham's School of Music in Manchester. She has a wide range of interests and hobbies but her love of music is paramount. After showing exceptional promise during her audition for Chetham's she was accepted with the piano as her primary instrument and has been under the tutelage of Jeremy Young.
Master Man Tang
This centre is established to pass on Chinese culture and tradition, not only focusing on the aspect of martial arts, but personal development and values. It is of utmost importance in Chinese culture to respect and honour parents, teachers and elders.

Rhythmic gymnast champion of Northwest U.K
Her performance is called ”Spring Li Yuan ”which combines Chinese folk dance and opera style. It will present the scene of a little girl playing and celebrating Chinese New Year in Liyuan. This dance embedded Chinese culture and history and is joyful to watch for the spring festival.
